ABOUT

DRIFTWD, previously known as Driftwood, is the Belgian band led by the artistic duo architect-musician Sam De Bock and musician-composer Patricia Vanneste (Sohnarr, Hydrogen Sea, ex-Balthazar).

Through collaborations with absolute world-class musicians such as Joey Waronker (Beck, Atoms For Peace, Thom Yorke, R.E.M.), Timothy Lefebvre (David Bowie, Elvis Costello, The Black Crowes, Sting), and Donny McCaslin (David Bowie, Dave Douglas, Sun Kil Moon), it's no surprise that this band aims to create a distinct sound. The fusion of Vanneste's melodious expression and De Bock's structural, collage-like approach results in a unique dark and energetic atmosphere that finds common ground with the sound of Massive Attack, Tricky, Lamb, and Mark Lanegan.

The band has released three albums: their debut Only Fighters Left Behind (2020), In Need of Music (2024), and the live album A Mountain of Music (2025), recorded during performances with an 8-piece band including Joey, Timothy, Donny, and other top Belgian musicians. Their live shows are adventurous journeys that merge jazz, pop, and rock, with ample room for improvisation.
