ABOUT

DRIFTWD, previously known as Driftwood, is the Belgian band led by the artistic duo architect-musician Sam De Bock and musician-composer Patricia Vanneste (Sohnarr, Hydrogen Sea, ex-Balthazar).

Through collaborations with absolute world-class musicians such as Joey Waronker (Beck, Atoms For Peace, Thom Yorke, R.E.M.), Timothy Lefebvre (David Bowie, Elvis Costello, The Black Crowes, Sting), and Donny McCaslin (David Bowie, Dave Douglas, Sun Kil Moon), it's no surprise that this band aims to create a distinct sound. The fusion of Vanneste's melodious expression and De Bock's structural, collage-like approach results in a unique dark and energetic atmosphere that finds common ground with the sound of Massive Attack, Tricky, Lamb, and Mark Lanegan.

Their debut album, 'Only Fighters Left Behind', was released in February 2020 and was met with rave reviews. The album proved to be an at times pitch-black examination of the consequences of loss, fear, inadequacy and their own disgust.

Currently, DRIFTWD is in the final stages of completing their second full album, expected to be released in autumn 2024.
